Cleanup on Restart

On restart, a number of objects are recycled or cleaned up. For vehicles, it means they are removed, which creates an empty slot that can be filled by another randomly selected vehicle. For tents, stashes, tank traps, barbed wire, etc this means they are removed. All of this is standard Vanilla DayZ Mod, except where noted.

Objects Repaired on Restart

  1. Motorcycles and bicycles are fully repaired and refueled on each restart.
    • This is different than vanilla.
  2. Boats (PBX, Small Boat, Fishing Boat) are fully repaired and fueled 75% after 2 days.
    • This is different than vanilla.

Objects Removed on Restart

  1. Anything out of bounds
    • Don’t put things really close to the boundary either since the code to calculate position may round and may consider it out of bounds.
    • Its very easy to see things out near the edge – there is no cover.
  2. Helicopters on top of buildings
    • It’s a lame move.
  3. Vehicles with 100% damage*
    • This is slightly different than vanilla. We do not wait for the built-in vehicle timeout. We remove vehicles with 100% damage on each restart.
    • I’ve been thinking about reducing the threshold to 90% or even 80%.
  4. Empty Tents & Stashes older than 7 days
  5. Barbed Wire older than 2 days
  6. Sandbags older than 20 days
  7. Bear Traps and Trip Wires older than 5 days
  8. Incomplete fences
    • Foundations after 1 day
    • Level 1 Frame, quaterpanel, halfpanel, thirdpanel after 3 days
  9. Barbed Wire is removed immediately if the owner has died
  10. Motorcycles and Bicycles are recycled 24 hours after creation.
    • This is different than vanilla. Motorcycles and Bicycles are considered short-term transportation. Far too often, they were getting hidden in trees and abandoned.
  11. Boats (PBX, Small Boat, Fishing Boat) are recycled 4 days after creation.
    • This is different than vanilla. Boats are glitchy and end up damaged, unrepairable, out of gas or lost far out in the ocean.
  12. Airplanes are recycled 48 hours after creation.
    • This is different than vanilla. Airplanes generally end up stuck and/or out of gas very quickly.
  13. Buses are recycled are recycled 4 days after creation.
    • This is different than vanilla.
  14. Tents & Stashes that have been abandoned (not touched/updated in 60 days)  [NEW on October 20, 2016. Bases have greatly increased the objects in the databases, so this is back to 60]
    • This is different than vanilla.  60 days is plenty of time to take a break and return to your gear. There are too many tents & stashes littering the woods.
  15. Vehicles that have been abandoned (not updated/touched in 21 days).
    • This is different that vanilla. Vehicles are for transportation so if it hasn’t been touched/moved in 21 days, its abandoned.

Objects Degraded on Restart

Fences and gates must be maintained or else they start to degrade to a level lower and disappear over time.  A log must be added to the fence or gate to take it out of maintenance mode.

  1. Fences at level 7, 6, 5
    • Put into maintenance mode after 14 days
    • Degrade a level after 6 days in maintenance mode
  2. Fences at level 4, 3, 2, 1, thirdpanel, halfpanel, quarterpanel, frame, foundation
    • Put into maintenance mode after 7 days
    • Degrade a level after 3 days in maintenance made

 

  1. Gates at level 4, 3, 2, 1
    • Put into maintenance mode after 7 days
    • Degrade a level after 3 days in maintenance made
